Come down to Johnson County Old Settlers and enjoy the amazing local talent of our own Olathe Civic & Jazz Bands on Saturday September 9th 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Cherry Street Stage
The Olathe Civic Band is the largest and one of the oldest community bands in the state of Kansas. Its roots go back to the Ott’s Boys Band formed in 1913.
The current version is celebrating its 41st year, having been formed in 1982 by Olathe Music Icon, Ed Badsky. The band, which numbers over 120, has been directed by Ed Colson since 1999. The all-volunteer band performs at most of Olathe’s largest events.
Formed in 2006, The Olathe Civic Jazz Band is now performing in its 17thyear. This 17-piece big band has an outstanding vocalist and is a favorite around the community. Staffed primarily by members of the Olathe Civic Band, this group performs big band standards as well as some newer arrangements and can be heard at a variety of events in and around Olathe.
Both of these groups have won the hearts of thousands of Olatheans, and citizens throughout the Kansas City area.
The Olathe Community Orchestra is a nonprofit civic ensemble dedicated to providing classical orchestra music for the citizens of Olathe, Kansas.
